water aid analysis

Denotation
There is a child who looks malnourished in the foreground.
In the background there is what seems to be a village and rather rocker wall.
It the very front there is text that says "dig toilets not graves".
The boys shirt is blue and grey. The wall is a light brown/beige colour.

Connotation
While the blue in his shirt may mean water and health, when put next to the dull greys it makes him seem unhealthy and sick. The browns and beiges in the wall make it seem dirty and disgusting which is another sign of sickness and they also make it seem almost earth like and environmental.

Analysis
This image is designed to  make the audience feel sympathy toward the child but also allow them to see how malnourished they are and how much they need the water. It is designed to make the audience feel a deep sadness and make them want to donate.

Alien Movie Poster Analysis

Language
The title of the poster says A  L  I  E  N in the font 'ariel'
This font is used in many sci-fi horror movie posters, along with the tag line 'In space no one can here you scream.' This is another way you can tell that this is a sci-fi is the mention of the word 'space' because space is associated with science. The word 'scream' also is associated with being scared which allows us to believe that this is a horror. The effect created here is supposed to make us interested as to why they are in space and why they would be screaming?

Industries
Directed by Ridley Scott and produced by Walter Hill, David Giler and Gordon Carroll, Alien got around $104.9-203.6 million in box office. This 2 hour movie was released on the 1st of November 1979 but set in the year 2121. In the late 1970's and 80's there was a cycle of films that all came to be known as ‘body horror’, because they focused on anxieties surrounding the human body. The body itself became the site of horror as its physical form was altered by disease, invasion or mutilation. Alien was one of these films which got it quite a bit of attention as a new type of horror.

Audience
The target audience, due to the fact it is an 18, was mainly pointed at adults. Many people believed that Alien was targeted towards adults because of the overly sexualised images of aliens. H.R. Giger was a Swiss painter, whose style was adapted for many forms of media, including record albums, furniture and tattoos. Alien's creatures were based off of his artwork which was mainly to do with very promiscuous aliens. This is the reason the Alien movie was aimed at a male adult audience.

Representation
This poster is up for as much interpretation as possible as it is very simple. The centre image is a floating egg like figure oozing a glowing green goo like substance, which we later find out is acid, and emitting a neon green fog. The very bottom of the image there is what seems to be a grid or net which looks very old and rusty.
This poster plays around a lot with lighting and shadows which allow it have more of a creepy air to it.

gcse first post

1)The thing I am looking forward to most is filming because i like using cameras, i also like coming up with ideas for new videos.

2)I hope to learn how to edit videos and use SFX because i think it is fun.

3)The grade I am realistically hoping to achieve in media is a B because i would rather hope for a lower grade and achieve higher than hope for a higher grade and achieve lower.

4)The last TV programme I watch was game of thrones and the last movie I watched was sister act 2.

5)I think game of thrones appealed to the audience because it had a lot to do with political issues. It is very exciting and spontaneous, it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

6)The last device i used to access media was my kindle.

7)The device i use most to access media is also my kindle.

9)From the clip i can tell that Sherlock has amazing intuition and is able to understand many stuff about people and things with just a look and Watson is kinda sceptical and doesn't understand Sherlock.

10)One aspect of the clip that the audience may find appealing is when Sherlock is whipping the dead body, this is because they may be curious as to why he is doing that. Another aspect is when Sherlock is talking to the woman and he notices the small details of her make up, this is fascinating because not many of the audience will be able to notice such minor things. The final aspect is when Watson first meets Sherlock and he tells him everything he knows about him, this is interesting because they have only just met each other and he already knows so much.
